What: A pop-up test run of the Foreign Cinema team’s latest project, housed in Mission nightspot László.
Why: Hearty lunchtime fare like the Americano Italiano (house-smoked roast beef, broccoli rabe with garlic and chilies, balsamic cippolini onions) and the Alternator (Chinese smoked chicken salad with citrus and peanut sauce) sandwiches, plus Fourbarrel coffee and juices.
When: Opens Fri. Mon.-Fri., 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Ice Cream Social with Smitten and Humphry Slocombe
What: The Hayes Valley liquid-nitrogen pioneers and the Mission flavor geniuses join forces for an ice cream-making demo and tasting to launch the SF Chefs festival.
Why: Cold treats to kick off summer — without the brain freeze.

Sunset Celebration Weekend: Fresh from the West
What: The West Coast lifestyle magazine opens its seven-acre campus for cooking demos, food truck fare, wine seminars, gardening displays, and live music.
Why: Secondhand Sunset — in which the editors sell off treasures from their prop studio, idea houses, and personal closets for rock-bottom prices — is back by popular demand.
