We’re no stranger to late-night bacon, especially when it’s wrapped around a hot dog and served to the drunk, hungry masses in the Mission. But sometimes gals like to have other options.
Late-night sausage and pie, for example.
Meet Pig & Pie, open until 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Housed in the former Discolandia space (yes, the former tenants’ signage remains), the new restaurant serves seven creative takes on tube steaks, including a banh mi sausage (pork, black pepper, and garlic topped with pickled daikon, carrot, cilantro, and chicken liver pâté) and a sage, ginger, and bacon breakfast sausage topped with Sriracha and a fried egg.
Add smoked-salt fries or house-made pickles and a pint of Sutton Cellars cider, then wrap it all up with a slice of Shaker lemon, spiced pecan, or seasonal fruit pie.
Just don’t forget to hydrate.
