Formal affair or no-frills feast?
The route to an enlightened palate often presents an epicurean with extremes.
Company, opening today in the former Flying Saucer location, paves a middle path toward satiety.
Former Four Seasons chefs Karen Hoffmann and Jason Poindexter apply their formal dining backgrounds to a relaxed setting, creating a Cal-Mediterranean menu to flip for. Dishes like grilled Monterey squid with smashed butterball potatoes and goat’s milk ricotta (served with broiled Mission fig and orange blossom toast) are built to share — or scarf down as a full meal.
Thirsty? Front of house manager Russell Morton’s herb-infused cocktails are refreshing and inventive. Try the Basil Lemon Drop made with limoncello or Blackberry & Thyme (sparkling wine, blackberry puree, fresh thyme).
It’s just dinner for now, but look out for an extended menu and lunch service within the next week.
As if you needed an excuse to return.
