Before we bring you today’s regularly scheduled content, we want to mention our thoughts are with all those affected by Hurricane Sandy. To make a financial donation to help with disaster relief, go to redcross.org.

If you could summon the service of a genie, you’d wish to be transported to lands far, far away.

Forget magic carpet rides. Introducing Hungry Globetrotter, a new subscription meal service that adds a taste of the exotic to your everyday.

Founder Vijay Rajendran’s peripatetic lifestyle (he’s lived in six countries) whet his appetite for adventure. Curious reactions to his food-centric travel blog prompted Rajendran to invent an edible, affordable cure for wanderlust: curated boxes filled with all the nonperishable items you need (recipes, hard-to-find sauces and spices, accompaniments) to whip up an internationally inspired meal for four.

Like a postcard for your palate, each delivery explores a new cuisine. Next month turn (the table) Japanese with bluegrass soy and yuzu-infused ponzu sauces, shichimi togarashi seasoning, and recipes for yakitori chicken and miso soup.

Because there’s no place like home.

Available at hungryglobetrotter.com, $35 per month.
