Spice Up Date Night at Nico

A chic new French bistro from a Manresa chef

When it comes to date night, you tend to veer down a familiar path.

Take a trip to Nico and let the excitement unfold.

For starters, the charming, modern French bistro has serious fine dining cred. Chef Nicolas Delaroque (Manresa), a Paris native, crafts a menu brimming with locally sourced goods (including bread from B.patisserie down the road) and French-California flavors.

Warm up to the restaurant’s rustic vibe (blond woods with metal accents, a pewter bar set off by 18th-century French gates) and peruse the goods. Dishes change nightly but might include freshly caught black cod with Brussels sprouts, brandade, and clam jus; or beignets laced with goat cheese.

Wine director Malcolm Brownson (Saison, Coi) picks every by-the-glass option to match the evening’s offerings.

We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
