Treat Yourself to Sweetmue

A petite patisserie in the Mission

The trick to treats: not eating the whole damn box of chocolates in one sitting.

Dabble in dessert without blowing your diet at Sweetmue, a hidden gem of a bakery now open in the Mission.

Owner Müller Luo left a career in finance to pursue her passion for pastry. After completing her pastry program at The French Culinary Institute, she set up shop to introduce her Asian-inspired French confections to the public.

During the week, stop in for morning sweets (mini banana loaf with chocolate chips and salted caramel fudge, yogurt parfait) and savories (ham and cheese turnovers, cheese sticks with cheddar and Gruyere). On weekends, doll-size snacks encourage sampling and sharing. We suggest mini macarons (the salted caramel will blow your mind), fruit tarts (vanilla cream, lemon, frangipane with blackberries), and green tea cookies.

Want to spoil your sweetheart? For Valentine’s Day, find mini red velvet cupcakes sandwiched between cream cheese and macaron shells and chocolate salted caramel tarts topped with raspberries.

A little goes a long way.
