Get a Taste of Latin America at Manos Nouveau

A bit of Peru and Mexico in the Mission

manos nouveau!

Thanks to Instagram and Pinterest, your eyes get a little vacay just about every day.

Take your taste buds on a trip at Manos Nouveau. SF native and owner Manuel Montalbán honors both Latin culture (a rotating menu of Peruvian and Mexican flavors) and the local community (plates made by neighborhood artisans; work by area artists) at his new fusion restaurant in the Mission.

Don’t let unfamiliar words discourage exploration. Fresh ingredients and creative dishes portioned to share make dinner an adventure.

We suggest starting your tour with the bocadillos menu, which includes three kinds of ceviche (our vote goes to the whitefish with English cucumber, rocoto, red onion, cilantro, scallion, and lime); seared scallops with fried yuca; and prawns in a creamy, spicy aji sauce so good you’ll want to lick the plate (and you should). Mains include oven-roasted salmon with green pea chimole rice and duck breast in a squash sauce with balsamic reduction.

It’s a holiday from boring suppers — and you get to sleep in your own bed.

Manos Nouveau, 3115 22nd Street, between Van Ness and Capp Streets (415-638-6109 or manosnouveau.com).
