Day of Reckoning

Spa Day in SF

You? You’re a giver.

You donate clothing. Rescue animals. Feed the elderly. Mentor children. And you never, ever, under any circumstances spend a frivolous penny on yourself.

Time to cut the martyr act.

Wednesday, November 17 is Spa Day in San Francisco (and down in L.A. — this is a whole Cali thing), and it was made for your suffering self. Book an appointment at a participating spa (the list’s a mile-long), and 20 percent of the fee will be donated to Project Open Hand and Aid For AIDS in Northern California. Can’t get an appointment? Get a gift certificate for another day — that counts too. Whether it’s a massage, manicure, herbal wrap, bikini wax, facial, blow-out, or all of the above, you’ll be giving back while giving in to that very rare (ha) feeling of indulgence.

Doing something nice for others doesn’t have to mean depriving yourself. In this case, you’ve gotta take something to give something.

Guess you’ll just have to suck it up.
