East of Eden

Ever since our little fruit-related run-in with the serpent (thanks a lot, Adam and Eve), humankind has been lamenting its expulsion from the Garden of Eden.

Paradise may still be a ways off, but you can get a little slice of heaven with Eden & Eden T-shirts. Designed by a British brother and sister, who now reside in San Francisco, the shirts for both men and women are inspired by the quirky flashcards their father made to quiz them when they were kids.

The charmingly naive designs — Bird on a Branch, Birds on Fence, Horse & Dog, Cup & Spoon, and Face — come silk-screened on yellow, pink, brown, lavender, green, light blue, and silver fabric. And no need to resist temptation here: The tees are American Apparel, so they’re sweatshop free.

They may not be a giant leap forward for humankind, but they’re a small step for you.

Available at Karikter, 418 Sutter Street, between Stockton and Powell Streets (415-434-1120). To see styles or order online, go to edenandeden.com.
