You know what they say about birds of a feather …
They make very cute totes and tops.
Okay, maybe that’s not quite what they say. But it’s true.
Bay Area artists Lisa Solomon and Teresa Weller became fast friends over their love for French bulldogs, and then soon discovered they had other common interests: ribbons, pinking shears, vintage fabrics, typewriters, and fake flowers. Thus they hatched Abby Normal, a line of limited-edition shirts and bags.
Six styles of American Apparel tees (five for babes and one for babies) come in various colors. Medium-size canvas totes have bright gingham linings. Designs depict birds kissing, a bird’s nest, large and small fowl, and polka-dot chicks in mustard, light blue, leaf green, orange, and brown. Each size and style is limited to runs of 100: Each is hand-screened, one at a time, then numbered on the tag.
The shirts are 100 percent comfy cotton; the carryalls are unbleached canvas. Both are simple and stylish.
Odd ducks they are not. But definitely a rare species.
