Range Rover

You’ve never been one to feel particularly at home on the range.

You prefer the delights of the indoors: good lighting, tasty food, quiet conversation.

Which is why you’ll fit right in at Range, a new restaurant in the Mission that’s pleasing to both the peepers and the palate.

Brought to you by husband and wife Phil and Cameron West (who’ve had stints at Delfina, Bacar, and Eos), the three-part space (bar, middle room, and main dining area) is decked in earth tones and accented with local artwork, wood beams, and comfy booths.

The seasonal American menu features appetizers like tomato soup with roasted leeks and pine nuts; marinated fennel with peaches and chèvre; and raw albacore with avocado, watermelon, and spiced Hawaiian salt. Entrees include halibut with braised artichokes, barley and mushroom-stuffed chard with squash blossoms and corn sauce, and coffee-rubbed pork shoulder with hominy and greens.

Leave room for desserts like roasted peach cobbler, hazelnut butter crème caramel, and honey almond cake with white chocolate-strawberry sabayon.

Just a bite of lovelies like these and you’re sure to feel right at home.

Range, 842 Valencia Street, between Nineteenth and Twentieth Streets (415-282-8283).
