Knit Picky

The word knitwear doesn’t exactly conjure visions of sexiness. In fact, it reminds you of those horrid shawls and sweaters in dreadful color combos that Grandma used to make for you.

Stacy Johnson is determined to change all that.

Stacia, her new line of contemporary knits, was inspired by the California beach lifestyle. Soft, luxe, and ultralight, the collection of halters, hoodies, short- and long-sleeve tees, tanks, and bikinis is made of washable cotton or rayon. The form-fitting cuts make them sexy but still comfortable.

Falling somewhere between a T-shirt and a sweater, they come in lively colors and prints (with names like Grasshopper, Zuma, Mailbu, and Camouflage) and eschew all thoughts of Granny’s knits.

Added perk? If you have wee ones, Johnson makes adorable baby gear in the same prints.

For their sake and yours, maybe it’s time someone told Grandma.
