Pure Camp

Cheerleading Camp

You haven’t had much to cheer about lately. You got a big fat demotion at work. Kicked to the curb by the lamest guy in town. And you gained five pounds after cutting all carbs from your diet.

Chin up, love. What you need is cheerleading camp. Yes, you read right. The lastest craze to hit The Sports Club/LA, classes meet Saturday mornings in August — and they’re just the thing to get your spirits back on track.

Katie LeBoeuf, an instructor for the United Cheerleading Association, leads the classes. During the month-long stint you’ll learn basic techniques, sideline cheers, and a dance routine.

Cheerleading uniforms are not required (although certainly welcomed); shorts and T-shirts will suffice. No prior experience is necessary, so this is your chance to live out that high school dream (if it exists for you) or to tone your upper body, boost your energy, and, most importantly, revive your sparkle.

After all, you know what they say about being your own cheerleader.

The Sports Club/LA, 747 Market Street, between Third and Fourth Streets (415-633-3900).
