Rye Humor

You order ham on rye. Read Catcher in the Rye. And are perfectly aware that them good ol’ boys were drinking whiskey and rye.

Unfortunately, none of these things clears up the basic question for you: What the heck is it?

Maybe the new bar Rye will give you a definition you can work with.

Located on the cusp of the TenderNob, the swanky 1,200-square-foot watering hole is owned and designed by Greg Lindgren and Jon Gasparini (of Rosewood and 15 Romolo fame). They’ve set it up with high ceilings, funky artwork, an outdoor space for smokers, and a vintage pool table.

The monthly rotating drink menu includes libations like the Sazerac, laced with a dash of bitters and a rinse of pastis; and the Atomic Applebomb, a concoction of apple brandy, fresh-pressed apple juice, and ginger beer.

Throw back a few of those and you’ll be asking more important questions.

Like who is the dashing gent across the bar?
