There are certain indicators that it’s time to move on.
For Mixed Use co-owners Katherine Johnstone and Darshan Amrit, it was the wrecking ball at the door of their Mission digs.
Without missing a beat, the one-stop shop for retro junkies has relocated to North Beach. On the top floor of their sunny new boutique, label lovers still find Gucci, Christian Dior, and Yves St. Laurent, as well as an assortment of Jackie O. shades, a wall of knee-high leather boots, and arguably the largest collection of vintage Coach purses in San Francisco.
Downstairs, the mix-and-match modern furniture collection changes often, but you’ll always find Eames seats and tables. If you see a Milo Baughman leather club chair with the tag still on it, whip out the plastic. Score with a pair of Bickering headphones from the ’70s and an array of sleek record players. Other catches include ceramic vases, mod lamps, and ’60s Italian glassware.
With so much good stuff, you can be sure Mixed Use is here to stay.
Barring any natural disasters.
