Remember when you couldn’t wait to rearrange your bedroom, only to change it all over again two weeks later?
Cate Kellison, owner of Rose and Radish, does. She’s dismantled the interior of her Hayes Valley floral boutique to make way for an airy design atelier that highlights original pieces from talent around the world. Every six to eight weeks she will change the entire gallery, top to bottom, with a new crop of dreamy textiles and home accessories.
The inaugural exhibit, Egg, heralds springtime, with woolly bunny-shaped egg cosies, thin Italian ceramic bowls, Danish mobiles, and sophisticated birdfeeders that recall John Lautner’s Chemosphere House. Everything — down to the walls (pleated paper structures) and light fixtures (cream, rounded minimalist numbers) — is up for grabs.
Of course, Kellison will continue to create her floral designs, playing off some of her exhibition themes.
And with the next scheduled show, entitled Water, she may just be the inspiration you need to revamp that living room.
Koi pond, anyone?
