Nosh on fried shrimp, goat cheese croquettes, and tuna poke at Barndiva, where all ingredients are sustainably farmed. Start your morning right with the best joe in town at Flying Goat Coffee. Before heading back to reality, stop at De Loach Vineyards Farmers Market on Saturdays and Sundays for fresh organic fruits and veggies.

For a real road trip experience, head a little farther north to Upper Lake’s Tallman Hotel, an 1890s Victorian that’s just been restored. Go back in time and enjoy stargazing and bass fishing without giving up modern technology and amenities like Molton Brown bath products, wireless Internet, and a pool and hot tub. For eats and drinks, go to the Blue Wing Saloon & Cafe, an old-school joint serving up delish barbecued ribs and burgers. Excellent wine tasting is nearby at Ceàgo Vinegarden.
