The last time you went shopping for harnesses, collars, and flavored plastic toys, you were in sort of a dark place in life.
This time, make a trip to Bella Bean Couture and lighten things up a bit.
The new boutique on Divisadero is dedicated to all things cheerful for the dog lover. Owner Michelle Meehan is known for her jaunty pet accessories, but this is her first actual storefront.
On hand are the usual leashes and such (we star the cupcake and modern blooms designs), but also look for plush toy snails, ladybugs, ducks, and baguettes; tennis balls flavored with mint, vanilla, peanut butter, or chocolate; super-swank beds by Decaf Plush in velvet with appliqued owls, birds, elephants, or squirrels; treats shaped like cupcakes, ice cream cones, and cannolis that look good enough to eat yourself; and fun things like customized silhouettes of your pooch.
A stop at this bright new shop could keep you tied up for hours.
And not in that old, scary way.
Bella Bean Couture, 1826 Divisadero Street, between Bush and Pine Streets (415-474-1205 or bellabeancouture.com).
