A play in two parts, starring your skin.
Act One: The Analysis
A comfortable room at the new Dermalounge spa in Burlingame. You sit before a state-of-the-art machine that reads your skin. Lights flash. Photographs appear.
YOUR SKIN: These can’t be photos of me. What’re those petri dish-looking things? The riverbeds? And is that Doppler radar?
MACHINE: That’s you, alright: sun damage, wrinkles, and — ahem — rather large pores.
YOUR SKIN: How embarrassing.
Act Two: The Treatment
A peaceful room. You lie wrapped in a blanket on a heated bed. An esthetician buffs, brushes, steams, extracts, and massages your skin (face, arms, neck, scalp, and feet) using cooling menthol masks, hot compresses, and lavender oil for a full hour.
YOUR SKIN: Ahhhhh. I feel better. I’m smooth, radiant, and renewed. What other tricks do you have up your sleeve, Esthetician?
ESTHETICIAN: All sorts of stuff: microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photodynamic therapy, Botox, laser hair removal, waxing … you name it.
YOUR SKIN: I think I’m ready for my closeup now.
Curtain closes.
