Re/find Furniture

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Hold up. Why toss gorgeous wood? Not only is it ungreen, but salvaged trees felled by unfortunate causes (wind, humans, vermin) can become knockout furniture at the hands of artisan Luke Bartels.

Re/find, his San Bruno company, draws from Bay Area salvagers and sawyers to create elegant pieces that retain wood’s natural movement and expression.

Unique benches and tables are more like cross sections of trees (rich walnut, sandy Bay laurel) with organic cracks and splits beautifully butterflied together then planed and polished to reveal the beauty of the grain. (If you’ve seen his bench outside Maverick restaurant, you know what we mean.)

Some still have the bark on. Who wouldn’t want that in their home?

We sure wood.
