Cujo
It’s a Howl-o-ween party for pooches at Cheeko B Pet Boutique (October 30, 5-8 p.m.; 611 Post Street; 415-440-1221). Take your costumed creatures for tricks, treats, a contest, raffle prizes, bevvies, and more in the Tendernob.
The Shining
If you’re causing a fright thanks to your ghastly blemishes, visit Debbie Collins at Union Retreat (1618 Union Street; 415-749-1455) for her Halloween pumpkin peel — an 80-minute facial that includes a neck, shoulder, and foot massage, along with brow shaping to get your mug prepped for showtime.
Cat People
For horns, fangs, and latex tissue galore, Kryolan in SOMA has your professional makeup needs in the bag (132 Ninth Street; 415-863-9684). Make an appointment with a makeup artist 11 a.m.-4 p.m., October 31. (Applications are $25 for basic makeup; reservations must be placed by noon, October 30.)
Altered States
Sip the Dr. Moreau’s Island at Luna Park (694 Valencia Street; 415-553-8584). The haunting blend of fruit juices and liquor, made for two, is served with dry ice. They’ll have professional face painters and henna artists on hand 8-11 p.m. Halloween night to give you a finishing touch.
Candyman
Treat yourself to some goodies at The Candy Store’s annual sidewalk party in Russian Hill (October 31, 3-7 p.m.; 1507 Vallejo Street; 415-921-8000). They’re hocking free bonbons like sour vampire bats and gummy pumpkins from their candy cart, so grab a complimentary container and dig in.
House on Haunted Hill
For thrills and chills, take a flashlight tour of the 160-room Victorian mansion known as the Winchester Mystery House (October 31, 6:30 p.m.-12:27 a.m., 525 South Winchester Boulevard, San Jose; 408-247-2101). Tickets available online.
Now that’s the spirit.
