Surf ’n’ Turf

Big Dog Surf Camp

Once you longed to ride Maverick. These days, you’d rather get it on with mavericks.

Which is exactly why you should cruise over to Marin and suit up in style with Big Dog Surf Camp.

Local surfer Ian Glover (Big Dog) launched a summer program for kids last year, which he’s expanding by popular demand to include one-on-one and group sessions for bigger kahunas.

You take your tubular talent (he provides the boards and wet suits) to Proof Lab surf shop in Mill Valley, where you pick up any needed supplies (wet suit booties recommended). He then shuttles you over the hill to the beach for a three-hour lesson (drive time included).

Single sessions make great gifts ($100), but the price goes down per person if you book as a group.

In case you need a wingman.
