You’ve prayed for relief from your shopping habit to no avail.
Stop looking for help from above. Mercy is right around the corner.
Mercy Vintage Now opened its doors several weeks ago on Oakland’s Piedmont Avenue. Co-owners Jenny Della Santa and Karen Anderson have turned water into wine with the neglected space: Hextile floors, gold moldings, white walls, and soaring ceilings make a modern backdrop for the goods.
The worship-worthy merch is replenished daily. Bow down to clothing, shoes, hats, and jewelry from all decades (discrimination is a sin). Fancy designer pieces cohabitate with no-names (go equality!), all of which are scored from flea markets, estate sales, and obscure road trips.
And unlike some dumpster divers, these gals price their wares fairly ($15-$300).
Amen to that.
Mercy Vintage Now, 4188 Piedmont Avenue, at Linda Avenue, Oakland (510-654-5599 or mercyvintage.com).
