If Monday had its druthers, it would be more like Friday. But somebody’s gotta be the redheaded stepchild of the workweek.
With the debut of Eat at 111 Minna this Monday — an affair that’s part restaurant, part art exhibit, and part musical event — the crappiest of all days may finally get comeuppance.
Chef Tommy Halvorson (The Phoenix Supper Club) will prep six to eight affordable ($4-$10) small plates and two desserts for the grand opening. Up first: pork belly tacos with corn custard and succotash and gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, zucchini, prawns, chile, and lemon.
Sip a cucumber-and-vodka concoction created for Eat or take advantage of shot specials. Guests can mingle at tables, roam the gallery, or get down and dirty to a live DJ.
Watch out, Hump Day.
Eat at 111 Minna, this Monday, 5-10:30 p.m., 111 Minna Street, at Second Street (415-974-1719 or eatat111minna.blogspot.com). R.S.V.P. to eatat111minna@gmail.com and the first dish at this Monday’s Eat will be compliments of the chef.
