Your idea of vintage is the stolen tee you’ve been sleeping in since ’97. (A burnout from a burnout.)
Do us all a favor and head to Bianca Starr, the Mission’s latest vintage boutique, for a few pieces that are suitable for the outside world.
Former nightclub owner Bianca Kaplan has stocked her well-edited store with apparel from the 1930s through today. Kaplan’s collection, which she’s been amassing for years, is in immaculate shape and is rounded out with a killer selection of handbags, shoes, and boots.
She’ll even accept consignment pieces from high-end designers (like a pair of never-worn Chanel sunglasses and Gucci handbags on shelves now).
And because she focuses on “going out” clothes, finds like an electric blue leather dress from the ’80s are perfect for a night on the town.
If not the morning after.
Bianca Starr, 3552 20th Street, between Valencia and Mission Streets (415-341-1020 or biancastarr.com). This Friday, Bianca Starr will host a late-night shopping event, 5-10 p.m., featuring complimentary drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a live DJ.
