Go for the Goat

Happy Goat Caramels

happy goat caramels!

The curse of the billy goat. That annoying Jim Breuer character on SNL. Goatees.

Goats have suffered their fair share of abuse.

A taste of Happy Goat caramels may change that. Founder Michael Winnike taught himself the art of candy making after falling hard for a friend’s sheep’s milk truffles. Today he whips up small-batch confections using milk from free-range Cali goats.

Goat’s milk gives the sweets a subtle savoriness; Madagascar vanilla adds a heady shot of sugary spice. The pillowy candies are perfectly chewy (your dentist would approve).

And because there’s no cow’s milk, the lactose intolerant can join the fun.

Not baaaaaad.

Goat's milk still has lactose (milk sugar). So, people with true lactose allergies may still suffer effects, but goat's milk is much more easily digestible than cow's milk. And, many people who may think it is intolerance to lactose may actually be allergic to the casein or other elements in cow's milk.
