Psst. After much churning of the rumor mill, Lafitte restaurant finally opens today.
Here’s what you, DailyCandy reader, need to know:
This restaurant’s a BFD. Chef Russell Jackson (of Dissident Chef/SubCulture Dining fame) has been working on his Pier 5 masterpiece, named for pirate Jean Baptiste Lafitte, for close to four years.
You may never eat the same thing twice. Jackson refuses to set a menu, which means whatever’s freshest that day, and however he feels like cooking it (Asian, Italian, French), that’s what you’re gonna get.
Expect industrial-meets-historical design. An open stainless steel kitchen, black metal bar, and concrete floors distressed with sea salt mix with custom woodwork and the building’s classic waterfront architecture.
Drink responsibly (or don’t). There’s a global wine list and signature cocktails, sure, but since Jackson’s a teetotaler, you’ll find some tasty nonalcoholic sips. Meaning: If you snag a coveted patio seat during lunch, you don’t have to go back to the office tipsy.
Unless, of course, you want to make headlines of your own.
