Local, Artisan Food Market Comes to Bernal Heights

Small Purveyors Charm at 331 Cortland

331 cortland artisan market!

Between small-batch ice cream and single-brewed cups of joe, you’ve come to expect the biggest flavors in small packages.

To wit, Bernal Heights’s teensy new 331 Cortland market, which houses six charming local purveyors whose sweet and savory treats are perfect for a quick lunch or snack — and there’s even dessert to boot.

Nosh on insanely fresh sushi at Ichi Lucky Cat Deli and flaky Argentine-style empanadas at El Porteño (Prather Ranch beef with raisins and pimento-stuffed olives), or pick up some seasonal produce from the compact selection at Della Terra Organics. Other must-trys include crisp garlic-and-dill pickles at Paulie’s Pickling and vegan cookie sandwiches at Wholesome Bakery.

If you wake up with a donut craving, the bakery opens earlier than the rest of the stands, at 8 a.m. — which is no small feat.
