What you love about shopping vintage: scoring a one-of-a-kind piece. What you hate: pawing through racks of trash to find it.
New online vintage boutique American Apocalypse takes care of the dirty work for you. It’s curated by local stylists Brooke Candy (who oversees the visual and creative side — and, yes, that is her real name) and Rachel Lena Esterline (the biz brains).
The ladies restock regularly with items selected from their own stash, clients’ closets, and vintage shops. There’s something for everyone: the prepster (Cynthia Rowley schoolgirl dress), the punk (Robert Rodriguez lace tee), the girly girl (an utterly romantic gray and black sequined sweater). Better yet? Almost all of it is under $100.
The boys get plenty of love, too, and a section called Both — with men dressed in women’s clothes and vice versa — is in the works. You can’t get more San Francisco than that.
