What: Made by ladies in Rwanda, the hand-crocheted glass bead bangles ($160) look like rings of bubbly coral round your wrist. Braided fabric wraps ($40) are less busy but equally playful.
Why: Dual functionality. Playing with the beads is a surprising (albeit noisy) stress reliever. And that all net proceeds directly benefit said women helps as well.

What: One-woman operation pumps out delectable letterpressed paper goods ($5-$50). Botanicals (maple seeds, water lilies) and whimsicals (banner flags, tandem bikes) pop on pure cotton paper.
Why: We’re amazed when one person can do so much so well. (It took a team of fifteen to write this sentence.)

NIBBLE
Amy’s Cookies
What: Little bites ($13-$50) of crumbly, gourmet sweetness spark a battle between your eyes and your mouth. The Brooklyn-based baker’s creations are almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
Why: Pecan butterballs are particularly delish after a stint in the freezer, plus hordes of sandwich cookies (hazelnut coconut, Key lime) can keep you occupied while they chill.
