You claim you’d never pay money to see Charlie St. Cloud but secretly think Zac Efron is the bee’s knees. You’re a study in duality.
Which is exactly why local designer Camelia Skikos’s new clean-line dresses and tops suit you.
The Academy of Art instructor and Levi’s vet draws inspiration from sculpture to create garments that are at once soft and structured. Our favorite piece — this strapless, white silk dress with a detachable leather overlay — illustrates her sweet-meets-tough sensibility: The bodice is feminine; the harness adds edge (and can be worn over your favorite white tee).
Although most of her succinct collection is done in stark black and white, there are a few shocking red numbers, including a knockout (and definitely daring) cutout dress. Wearing it just might make you feel 17 again.
Available at 440 Brannan, 440 Brannan Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets (415-348-0000 or 440brannan.com); Wonderland, 2929 24th Street, between Alabama and Florida Streets (415-641-4600 or wonderlandsf.com), $300-$600. To see styles, go to cameliaskikos.com.
