You’ve officially mastered the art of eating chocolate. Perhaps it’s time to put the truffle down and see what goes on behind the scenes.

Unleash your inner Lady Godiva at a new hands-on class led by local chocolatier Coco-luxe. At a commercial kitchen in Sausalito, students learn to temper chocolate to make bars, dips, and more (yes, tasting is encouraged).

In the Build Your Own Chocolate Bar course, customize six dark bars with the artisanal fillings of your choice: nuts, spices, dried fruit, candied ginger, even chunks of milk and white chocolate. For cake fans, there are also classes in dipping and decorating petits fours (done in conjunction with Dragonfly Cakes), and, just in time, there’s an upcoming Halloween treats class.

Whichever course you attend, you’ll walk away with one-of-a-kind creations that make for gorgeous gifts. Or not.
