Here in SF, we like small-batch anything. So maybe it’s time we put our collective foot down against mass-produced shoes.
Follow our zero-carbon footprints to the iconic Mission vintage shop Painted Bird, which just released a new line of small-production footwear with timeless appeal.
Designed by the store’s owners and crafted by their close friend in Bali, the concise collection consists only of classic shapes (two-tone oxfords, black and gray buckle boots, studded leather Grecian sandals). Each limited-edition pair (less than 100 total) is designed to fit like vintage kicks: slightly worn in but of an indestructible make, so you’ll have them for seasons to come.
At less than $90 a pair, these might be the best things to happen to our feet in years. Hands down.
Available at Painted Bird, 1360 Valencia Street, between 24th and 25th Streets (415-401-7027 or paintedbird.org).
