The Mission’s latest neighborhood resto, with a focus on cured meats (smoked duck breast, lardo, guanciale) and other carnivorous goodness (slow-cooked pork leg, lamb T-bones, and sweetbreads).
Why: A cypress-wood bar built by the owners’ bare hands, at which you can sip artisan beer and old-world wines.

Fun with Ferments

What:
Learn to make fermented veggies from around the world (kimchi, sauerkraut, curtido) at Urban Kitchen SF’s two-hour workshop taught by D.I.Y. Delicious author Vanessa Barrington.
Why: Go home with a starter kimchi, one of the two other dishes, and loads of recipes.

What:
Top Chef alum Erik Hopfinger (formerly of Circa) revamped the resto’s dinner offerings to include hearty dishes like Brussels sprouts salad with soft-poached egg; butternut squash risotto with spiced mascarpone; and mini beef-and-lamb patties with feta, cucumber and tomato relish, and yogurt dip.
Why: The Beverages with Benefits happy hour, Mon.-Fri., 5-7 p.m., with $3 drafts, $5 wines, and $6 well cocktails, including the Moscow Mule (vodka, fresh lime juice, ginger beer).
