An all-girl bluegrass outfit’s top picks for this weekend’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass fest.
Project One combines the best of San Francisco art and nightlife, as it’s part gallery, part event space. Stop by for an urban luxe happy hour or dance the night away to one of the city’s best DJs in the cavernous lounge.

Lounge, art gallery, club: Madrone is all three rolled into one. More subdued groups chill at couches in the front, while live DJs (and specialty vodka drinks) heat up the action on the dance floor.

Sexy Eve Lounge opens tonight in SoMa, with black leather banquettes and paintings of pinups.
Pie Ranch, located in Pescadero, California, hosts a community work day, followed by a potluck dinner and barn dance complete with live music on the third Saturday of every month, beginning at 2 p.m. It’s a hoedown worth the road trip.
With its opulent art deco interior, The Paramount is a magical place to see a show, be it the symphony, your favorite band, or a comedy showcase.

This narrow Mission hipster hangout manages to be a theme bar — complete with a retro, glamorous ’50s salon vibe — without feeling at all gimmicky. A minuscule dance floor is the scene for many a drunken grind.
Although it’s a big space, this club feels like an intimate music venue, even with two levels and a VIP lounge. Mezzanine draws highly sought-after acts and DJs, as well as a high-energy crowd.
