High school prom: CK One. Trip to Italy: au naturel. Major lapse in judgment: Axe.
Since a smell can bring back memories more vividly than pictures, why leave it to chance? In today’s video, Steven Gontarski of Los Angeles-based perfume store Lucky Scent, has tips for finding your perfect fragrance — from where and how to spray it to how to decide what’s you.
If you’re like us, you’ll want to start spritzing away. Nose around Lucky Scent’s site — which carries tons of hard-to-find brands — and choose a few to try (samples are just $3-$5).
It’s about more than just common scents.
To shop and order samples, go to luckyscent.com. Since Gontarski talks about perfumes so eloquently, we asked him to tell us about his favorite seven fragrances (we’re now hooked on the Peau de Peche and At the Beach 1966).

’Tis the season for triumphant returns: Arrested Development, Twinkies, and Winona Ryder (our resident movie expert swears it), to name a few.
Also back in business: our Ask the Office Guy video series. For today’s installment, we went to the Foursquare offices and asked the following hard-hitters: What’s a good new date spot (above)? What’s the best way to get noticed online? What’s the best pizza in NYC? And, finally, what’s your spirit animal?
We’re going to different offices every few weeks, so, please, submit your questions. And in case you missed it last month, we got Mashable’s hilarious editorial director to tell us when to follow a new guy on Twitter, online-dating red flags, and who’s single at his office.
We hope you’ll come back for more.

Anyone can look like a winner in an online dating profile and be not-so-winning in reality. Are there any telltale signs that you should avoid making human-to-human contact? In this video, Mashable editorial director Matt Silverman shares his thoughts. Then, for more advice, check out his answers to “When should I follow a new guy on Twitter?” and “Are you single?”

You may remember our office guy, Dan (exceedingly handsome, answered burning relationship questions). Well, his dog, Puppy, was spotted by a talent agent, and they moved to Tinseltown.
So we embarked on a manhunt. Introducing the new and improved Ask the Office Guy series, in which we approach (adorable) men who work at our favorite companies and ask for their advice.
First up is Mashable’s editorial director, Matt Silverman. Today he tackles three hard-hitters: When should I follow a new guy on Twitter (above)? What are the red flags when dating online? And, finally, are you single?
We were so smitten with Silverman that we got him to film three more videos, which we’ll publish in our next installment.
After those, we’ll have guys from Foursquare, Yahoo, and who knows.
Maybe even a few from Hollywood.
Want more advice? Check out our original office guy’s tips on flirting, when to text a guy after a date, and what to do if you’re dating a dude with a rattail. Got a question? Email theofficeguy@dailycandy.com. Follow Silverman on Twitter at @matt_silverman and @mashable.
Not going to lie: Those guys at Mashable are cute. We One of our readers wants to know if editorial director Matt Silverman is single. Here’s his response. For more advice, check out his answers to “When should I follow a new guy on Twitter?” and “What are red flags in online dating?“

Looks aren’t everything. Tell that to the girl who just went on a first date with a great guy who has a rattail straight off the NKOTB Summer Magic Tour 1990.
This sounds like a dilemma for our token male editor and advice giver, Dan. In today’s Ask the Office Guy video, he decides whether she should cut it off (literally and figuratively) or learn to love the long, hairy tuft.
While Dan was at it, we got him to answer more whipsawed reader-submitted questions: What should I do if a guy I went out with tweeted “can’t wait to tap this broad” while we were on the date? How do I get my BF to stop talking incessantly while he drives? And, finally, would you, Dan, like to be five times larger to please her (a vague one submitted anonymously)?
As always, his answers are poignant and ridiculous. What can we say?
He’s got the right stuff.

We occasionally talk to ourselves while behind the wheel — but only when we’re alone. In this Ask the Office Guy, Dan answers a query from a reader whose boyfriend talks to himself incessantly while she’s in the car. Seems it’s driving her mad (pun intended).

It’s a serious question: Would you like to be five times larger in order to please her, Dan? In this Ask the Office Guy, our male editor fields a vague, personal question from an anonymous reader.

In the age of social media, it’s always interesting to see new, technology-driven ways in which people can be a-holes. Here’s one: Our reader’s date tweeted “can’t wait to tap this” while they were still out together. In this Ask the Office Guy, Dan shares his take on this WTF? situation.

Things not to say when flirting: “My six cats would adore you.” “You’re a dead ringer for my dad.” And “Did you see me on Hoarders?”
To perfect our technique, we enlisted token male editor Dan. In today’s Ask the Office Guy roundup, he answers four reader-submitted dating questions: What are your flirting tips (above)? If you’re not initially attracted to someone, should you call it quits? How do guys feel about a girl who hangs out with all guys? And, lastly, what if you hate your date’s shoes?
We apologize to readers whose questions he hasn’t yet addressed (he receives hundreds). In the meantime, his thoughts on what to wear on a first date and when to friend a guy on Facebook should keep you occupied.
And hopefully deter nonstop poking.

We’re not sure what the shoes looked like that inspired this reader from Pound Ridge, N.Y., to write in, but we’re imagining neon yellow lace-up Crocs. Deal breaker? Dan talks through the issue in this Ask the Office Guy.

It seems like being one of the boys could be fun: You’d drink a lot of beer, play Fantasy Football, and gain valuable insight into the male psyche. But could it hinder your chances of meeting guys outside the circle? In this Ask the Office Guy, Dan gives his honest opinion.

He was clever over email and had a sexy phone voice. A Google image search revealed a brown-eyed, handsome man. So when he showed up looking like Jon Gosselin, you were caught off guard. In this Ask the Office Guy, Dan decides whether you should go on a second date or call it quits.

This one goes out to all the single ladies.
Over the past few weeks, our token advice-giving office guy, Dan, has been hounded with reader-submitted dating questions, especially regarding do’s and don’ts when making a first impression.
In today’s video roundup he tackles queries aplenty: What should I wear on a first date (above)? What should I order from the menu? And if I go out with a guy and don’t hear from him for two months, should I go out with him again? (In short, heck no, but Dan says it more eloquently.)
And we’ll put our hands up for that.
Want more? Hear Dan’s perspective on postdate texting, the best place to meet guys, the ideal time to have the talk, and when to tell a new guy you’re really into cats. Or submit your own question by e-mailing him at theofficeguy@dailycandy.com.
