Moving On Up
Jonathan Adler Store Opens

Being an adult is all about trading up. And so you’ve ditched CliffsNotes for a book club, late-night slices for dinner parties, and PBR for pinot noir. (Well, most of the time.)
But those pleather beanbags in the living room are looking like a sorry, last-ditch attempt to cling to your youth. Time to accept responsibility for your decor. And that should be easy now that Jonathan Adler has opened a retail store on Fillmore Street in Pac Heights.
The 1,800-square-foot design den is packed with funky pottery, retro lacquer nesting cubes, and sexy silhouette lamps evocative of Old Hollywood glam. It’s also the first location to feature the entire Adler furniture collection of midcentury modern loungers and sofas, playful lattice screens with graphic cutouts, and ’60s Palm Beach Regency-style armchairs.
If your budget can’t sustain a full-on makeover, small accents — pillows, rugs, and vases — can help you see your pad as a magnificent work in progress.
Kind of like you.
Jonathan Adler, 2133 Fillmore Street, between California and Sacramento Streets (415-563-9500 or jonathanadler.com).
