Already up to your ears in weekend plans? Serves you right for snatching up those summer Fridays so fast. (Who can blame you?)

Monterey Bay Aquarium’s new Evenings by the Bay may keep your head above water yet. Through Labor Day, the enviro-conscious aquarium will stay open Saturdays and Sundays till 8 p.m. That’s two more hours to view the new Wild About Otters exhibit, listen to live smooth jazz at Marine Mammal Hall, explore freshwater kelp forests, or dine oceanside at Portola Cafe and Restaurant with a pair of tableside binoculars, just for fun.

And since the gift and book shop hours are extended, too, you’ll have more opportunity to takein everything you’ve learned and loved about the aquarium to begin with, even after your visit’s done.

See there? Weekend plans don’t have to be a sink or swim situation.
