Duty Calls

Eco Citizen Boutique

you're an eco citizen!

Concerned citizens,

There’s fallout from the environmental crisis that no one is talking about. Biodebatable fashion. Hemproids caused by rough natural fibers. All things reduced, reused, and repulsive. It’s a tragedy that is upon us.

Do your part and send offenders straight to Eco Citizen, a new shop in Russian Hill devoted to earth-loving, fair trade attire that’s actually chic.

Blonde wood floors and candid photos displayed on pristine walls let the clothes speak for themselves. Organic denim from Del Forte and cotton tees from Zooey are less protest than picnic in the park. Indian silk spaghetti dresses by Edun show you care. Quilted motorcycle jackets and hemp silk hot pants by Ciel put the active back in activist.

The fight continues with fingerless Mongolian cashmere gloves by Stewart+Brown, Veja sneakers from France (made in Brazilian co-ops with wild-harvested rubber soles), and recycled metal baubles by Linda Loudermilk.

With your help, we can make the right kind of progress.

Eco Citizen, 1488 Vallejo Street, between Polk and Larkin Streets (415-614-0100 or ecocitizenonline.com).
