Super Fly

Zaré at Fly Trap Opens

there's a fly in the soup!

What’s exotic, red on the inside, and full of protein?

Zaré at Fly Trap, of course.

Taking over the original 1906 institution, Hoss Zaré’s newest SOMA resto serves up eclectic Mediterranean comfort cuisine with classic Persian nuances.

The original botanical prints and old-world maps still cover the cherry red walls, and the tin-tiled ceiling remains. New communal tables and outdoor seating give things a modern twist.

Drawing inspiration from regions in Spain, Greece, Italy, and his native Iran, Zaré’s rustic, bistro-style apps (pistachio meatballs), salads (beet carpaccio with goat cheese), entrees (lamb burgers), and desserts (rocky road torte) unite worldly flavors in a cozy setting.

And the joint serves ’til midnight.

Just be forewarned: Doors close at 1.

Zaré at Fly Trap, 606 Folsom Street, at 2nd Street (415-243-0580).
