You like them big, you say?
West African tiger prawns are available right now on the dinner menu (until they run out) at Waterfront Seafood Grill (yes, we know it’s touristy). About the length of your forearm, the oversize crustaceans are buttery and, dare we say it, more tender than lobster.
The latest catch — presented split down the middle, head and antennae intact — is grilled and served with lemon butter and truffle aioli sauce. We can’t stop thinking about the side of roast corn salad tossed with lime, salt, and a hit of chili.
Sommelier Kristen Young recommends washing it all down with Evergreen Vineyard’s Feral, a 2010 sauvignon blanc (read: a complex and mineral white fermented with wild, indigenous yeasts.)
Sound like a mouthful? That’s because it is.
Available at Waterfront Seafood Grill, 2801 Alaskan Way, Pier 70 (206-956-9171 or elgaucho.com), $34.
