There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and rain in Seattle.
You’re on your own for the first two, but designer Katrina Hess has you covered (literally) on the last with Made in SoDo, her bespoke line of outerwear.
A frequent cyclist, Hess created the collection after she couldn’t find anything that was both sartorially pleasing and functional. Her solution took the shape of utilitarian-hip military jackets and capes, all made with waterproof waxed canvas or naturally water-resistant wool.
The coolest part? Each piece is made to measure and completely customizable, from the vintage hardware to the pops of color on the inside. Hess will even include cycle modifications for riders.
We’re 100 percent certain you’ll want one.
Available at Made in SoDo studio, 707 South Snoqualmie Street, unit 2b (206-669-6060 or madeinsodo.com), $150-$650. By appointment only.
