Shopping for kids’ clothes online (at night, in your pajamas, with the hum of the DVR running in the background) is all business, no ambience.
But if you want to feel something more — like the actual fabric of the sweater — there’s no substitute for the real thing.
Mother of two Eyana Carballo longed to browse racks (not sites) when filling her own tots’ closets, but faced a dearth of kids’ clothing stores in her Brooklyn neighborhood — so she opened one.
The inventory at Stork, geared toward newborns to age 6, reflects Carballo’s desire to offer practical and affordable attire for local littles. Much of the stock comes from Brooklyn-based mom designers, with special splurge pieces from the likes of Joe’s Jeans and Diesel.
The shop is packed with everything from shirts and pants to jackets, shoes, and accessories (think jewelry and sunglasses), making Stork as efficient as the old point-and-click.
But a whole lot warmer.
