You wonder why anyone bothers with brick-and-mortars when it’s so easy to fill a virtual cart.
Rethink your online shopping obsession (and your bathrobe situation) and head over to Aoki Boutique.
Alina Alter overhauled the former bike shop (located on the same quiet block as Mirror & Mantel) with teal walls, wood flooring, and vintage furniture pilfered from her father’s house.
This season she has her eye on floaty frocks of all sorts. We imagine lazing the summer away in a ruffly romper or ankle-length striped dress. She aims to keep items in her stock below $250, so you’ll be able to adorn yourself with tiny skull necklaces and leafy rings.
As for those rainy days ahead? Brave gray skies with a kitty-faced umbrella. Or brighten someone’s day with locally made stationery and other gifts.
Definitely worth getting out of bed for.
Aoki Boutique, 115 South 22nd Street (215-568-2024 or aokiboutique.com).
