Test the Waters at Westward and Little Gull Grocery

Mediterranean-inspired fare with a view

From year-round sailor stripes to beach houses and clambakes, Seattleites have saltwater running through our veins.

So when news of Westward and Little Gull Grocery washed ashore, we set our compasses for the newest seafood-centric restaurant on the (freshwater) shores of Lake Union.

The restaurant-and-market duo hails from the team behind Skillet. Decked out in yacht club-chic decor, Westward buoys diners’ spirits with Mediterranean-inspired fare such as fried squid, whole roasted fish, smoked manila clam dip, and beer-pickled peel-and-eat shrimp. Find us on the killer patio — in Adirondack chairs, sipping Micheladas (lager, house-made Worcestershire sauce, fresh lime, salted Rooster sauce rim), and ogling the city skyline.

Stop in for reinforcements next door, where Little Gull Grocery offers bottled wines, fresh-baked Columbia City bread, cheese, and a small oyster bar alongside cold beers on tap.

Have your own vessel? Dock at Westward and come aboard for dinner or call in an order to go. Pick up whole oysters to shuck on board, along with the house-made cocktail sauce.

It really floats our boat.
