Hot and Not Bothered

T-minus 31 until the official start of spring. Can’t make it that long? Well, the sun is always shining somewhere.

Sun + Adventure
You’ll have a view of sand, sea, and jungle at the Four Seasons ecoresort on Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo. Fish for marlin off the Catalina Islands, hike in Rincón de la Vieja volcano park, and sky walk on suspension bridges through the rainforest.

At Brazil’s Txai Resort, you can walk miles of pristine sand, swim in the Surpresa waterfall, canoe through mangroves, and get your groove on in capoeira class. Finish the day with moqueca (fish stewed in coconut milk).

Keep it simple at Cinnamon Bay, on St. John, where tents are only $80 (lanterns and cooking utensils extra), and you’ll get back to nature snorkeling Pirate Alley.

oaxaca!Sun + Culture
Suites overlook bougainvillea and frescoes at Oaxaca’s Camino Real, a converted 16th-century convent. Explore Mexican Baroque Santo Domingo church and don’t miss the black pottery in San Bartolo Coyotepec — a highlight of the local artisan markets. Refuel with fusion mole at the minimalist Casa Oaxaca.

The port town of Essaouira, Morocco, offers a mix of sea, sun, and hammams (Turkish baths). Make L’Heure Bleue Palais, a boutique hotel with an African-Portuguese vibe, your base for exploring the city’s ramparts and sampling freshly grilled fish at one of the many oceanside fish stalls, like Ali’s Les Bretons du Sud.

cocoa island!Sun + Treatments
Small villas inspired by doni (native fishing boats) jut into the crystalline Maldivian sea at the Como Shambhala Resort on Cocoa Island. There’s no better place to meditate, eat well, and chill in a marine algae wrap.

Ever walk into a spa and never want to leave? That’s how you’ll feel at Silver Rain, the La Prairie spa at the new Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. When you do emerge, it may be only to refresh at one of Le Bernardin chef Eric Ripert’s restaurants.

pink sands!Sun + More Sun
We’re crazy about Pink Sands on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Crazier still about the surrounding pure pink coastline, as well as pan-fried grouper at The Landing.

It’s Bali without the jet lag at the soon-to-open Amanyara, on a secluded stretch of Turks and Caicos. You can snorkel, fish, and dive. Or just order a massage in your room, a private beach pavilion.

Hana-Maui (and Hawaii in general) is the sure thing for sybarites — from Black Sand Beach at Wai’anapanapa State Park to the light, powdery sand at Hamoa.

There, now. You’re feeling warmer already.
