For most aches and pains, there is a cheap fix.
Got a headache? Pop some Tylenol. Nursing a heartache? Hershey’s will put you on the mend. A major pain in the neck? Now that could put a serious dent in the ol’ wallet.
Unless you head to the student clinic at the Chicago School of Massage. The 25-year-old Chicago institution was recently absorbed by the Cortiva Institute, and along with the new name came fancy Loop digs and a state-of-the-art spa.
Picture wood-slat walls, private treatment rooms (with mirrors and robes), and tranquil music. The clinic gives students who have completed their proficiency exam and 50 hours of classroom instruction an opportunity to work it all out (literally). The only hint that your massage is from a therapist-in-training is the $40 cost on your hour-long session.
Of course, if you’re so inclined, there’s also a pricer professional clinic.
But when you’re low on cash later, don’t come bellyaching to us.
