McLeod Residence Opens

When it comes to clubs, you’re an avowed skeptic.

Even all-you-can-eat Thin Mints wouldn’t get you into that Girl Scouts uniform. And Oprah’s Book Club? You were over it long before Jonathan Franzen bailed.

But that could change when you discover McLeod Residence, a membership-driven art gallery/lounge unveiling its debut exhibition tonight with work by artist/musician Paul Rucker and antique paintings curated by J. Franklin.

The still-evolving Belltown space mixes the extraordinary (19th- and 20th-century art, interactive technology) with the ordinary (cocktails, coming soon). Nonmembers are welcome, but a small membership fee secures perks like using the space for one party a year; the chance to invent your own drink; and, oddly, mail-holding services (using your own address is so 2006).
