The Taming of the Shrew

Rosario Resort Volunteer Package

nice package!

Washington winters have never been easy. But massive blackouts and snowy five-hour commutes?

This year, there’s no other way to say it: Mother Nature was a bitch.

Just ask troopers at Orcas Island’s Moran State Park, where storms left paths a debris-strewn mess. Now they need help — and have teamed up with Rosario Resort to offer a volunteer discount one Saturday each month.

The plan is genius: Sign up for a three-hour shift, and you’ll get 40 percent off the oceanside mansion’s rustic rooms, plus a 15-percent spa discount.

Haven’t hit the elliptical since December 22? Don’t worry. You’ll receive work gloves, and you can lug logs or gather leaves.

So when you look back on this winter, you’ll forget the bad times.

And remember it as a walk in the park.

First Saturday of each month through April, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Rosario Resort & Spa, 1400 Rosario Road, Eastsound (360-376-2222 or rosario.rockresorts.com).
