That’s Just Crazy Talk
Not Rational Handbags

Last year’s gaucho pant craze notwithstanding, there’s something to be said for Argentine-inspired exports.
To wit: dulce de leche ice cream, butter-soaked filets at Buenos Aires Grill, and Gael GarcĂa Bernal’s lips in Motorcycle Diaries.
Add one more to the list: Not Rational handbags by Buenos Aires-born designer Fabiana Trosman.
The totes, satchels, and hobos forego fussy hardware and embellishments for classic shapes, clean lines, and practical pockets. Details like raw edges (on the cognac Mini Sub Pocket) and braided straps (on the caramel Parker) keep the simple styles from being boring; seriously soft leather ensures they’ll only get better with age.
So next time you find yourself digging in your bag for your wallet, don’t expect anyone to cry for you.
Especially not Argentina.
Available at Merge, 5000 20th Avenue Northwest, at Ballard Avenue Northwest (206-782-5335). To see styles, go to notrational.com.
